“She’s a fighter’: Kitten survives being tossed from vehicle in Grimsby

.

On July 15th 2019, Grimsby resident was travelling along Eleventh Road by the Grimsby-Stoney Creek border was following a blue mustang and watch the driver throw something out of his window onto the road. The resident slammed on his break to avoid hitting this object. When he got out of his car, there was a  lifeless kitten barely moving and bleeding. He picked up this  adorable kittens who was only few weeks old and ran to the vet office.  While driving to the vet on the same road he stopped 3 more times, and unfortunately stopped to pick up 3 more kittens, unfortunately they have been run over. The vet examined the kittens, and advised the resident that it may not survive.  The kitten had road rash burn, bruising, a sprained leg and swelling in her brain. The resident was not going to give up on the kitten and contacted us for help. He named the kitten “Holly”

When Holly arrived at the foster, she has beautiful eyes and was purring and cuddling despite the cruelty she just experienced. We were  determined to make her well again.

After a few weeks, Holly tries to play like a normal kitten, and each day she was stronger and stronger. Our current monthly treatment consist of weekly chiropractor care to realign her spine, medication, blood work and ultrasounds to see if the brain bleed was getting better. Thanks to the many people that donated funds, Holly was fortunate to receive the treatment she needed. We are still looking for the cobalt blue mustang today, If you have any information please contact us.

Happy Beginnings for Holly!

Even though Holly will never be able to live a normal cats life of climbing cats scratchers, or jumping on your bed, she has learned to climb stairs one by one, and ramps to join you on the couch.

As of April 12th, 2020, Holly is a very happy go-lucky girl, extremely affectionate little girl,  despite developing Cerebellar hypoplasia as a result of her injuries. Thanks to Brad she found her loving “Forever Home”.
